Apprentice & Journeymen Training News

Green Awareness Certification

The UA is designing two certifications in this subject. The first is a 24 hour course that culminates with a 100 question open book test taken in our computer lab. Dates and times will be scheduled when we have a minimum of 10 participants. The second is a Job Specific Certification with an exam administered again in our computer lab. In order to be certified in the Job Specific section, you must have the Green Awareness Certification. If interested, call the Training Center to be put on the course participant list. The cost of the manual is $36.00.

The MCICNJ has agreed to pay the $128.00 fee associated with the S.T.A.R. certification exam. This is a one time incentive for each member. If you have never taken the exam, or paid the fee yourself and did not have success, you are eligible to receive this benefit. Please call the Training Center and register for the next testing date listed below. We will be offering additional sessions as needed.

If you should find yourself unemployed, and have the desire to sharpen your skills on Heating Systems, Electrical Projects, Soldering and Brazing Techniques, Liebert Systems, Motor Alignments, Refrigeration, etc...call the Training Center. We will set up times and dates to help you become more marketable in today’s difficult economy.

OSHA-10/30 Certifying Course

If you or your contractor is in need of either of these courses, call the Training Center. We can adjust dates and times to accommodate your needs as long as we have a minimum of 10 members.

Advanced Training Schedule for Journeymen and Apprentices

We have the ability for video conferencing any Journeyworker program to Local 322 Training Center for geographic convenience as long as there is a minimum of 10 Journeyworkers to participate.

All certification courses will be run on a continual basis. We also have additional courses that are noncommittal as of this date. Check our web site often for other educational opportunities that will be posted in the near future.

 

S.T.A.R. Certification Review and Test

The next S.T.A.R. Review session will be held at the Training Center on Thursday nights March 4th, 11th and 18th from 6:PM to 9:PM. The exam will be on Saturday the 20th at 8:AM. Information about payment remains the same as posted above.




Open Computer Lab at the Training Center

8:00 - 12:00 PM

March 27th, April 10th and 24th....If needed additional Saturdays will be added. The computer lab is open to all members on these dates from 8:AM to 12:PM. We have a complete list of manufacturer links and related programs. CD's are also available that contain many manufacturer's parts and equipment.
Extra help for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year apprentices will be available on open lab Saturdays. The 4th and 5th year apprentices are to notify the Instructor of the course in which help is needed.




Sporlan Valve

Senior Field Engineer Charlie Cunliffe will be at our Training Center on Wednesday, March 31 from 6:PM to 9:PM to present a seminar on service and troubleshooting updates for Sporlan's Electronic Expansion Valves and Electronic Controls. The Thermodynamics and replacement alternatives for 410-A will also be discussed.




Fireye Controls

Regional Service Manager Red Wagner will be at our Training Center on Wednesday April 14th from 6:PM to 9:PM for a program which will include, Codes and Regulations, Explosion Hazards, Safe Operating Sequence, Basic Flame Safeguard, Sequence of Operation, Flame Monitor Control and Trouble Shooting.




The 2011 recruitment for Apprentices will take place January 3rd, 2011 through January 14th, 2011

Requirements: A copy of Birth Certificate, High School Diploma with official Transcripts or Equivalency (GED) with official Transcripts. Three Letters of Reference, and a copy of your Drivers License must be presented (not returnable) to receive an application. (Prior applicants must resubmit the above documents). You must be 18 years of age and have a Valid Photo Driver License without major infractions. Successful applicants will be required to pass a Drug Screening.

Note: There will be 75 applications available at each Local. The applications will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be filled out by the applicant at the Local. Please be sure to have the documents mentioned. Incomplete applications will not be considered. None will be mailed and only one per applicant.
